Are you a home health agency?
My Friend Beth considers itself to be an essential part of the caregiving process. We help our clients by offering auxiliary support services for almost anything that is non-medical.
Who typically engages Senior Support Services?
In most cases, we are engaged by our client’s children, legal guardian or trustee.
Do you work with health care providers?
Provided that we are given written authorization, we can work with our client and their family doctor or specialist and other health care providers to make sure that proper discharge instructions are understood and followed.
How can I dertermine if your company is reliable?
Ask to see our credentials at any time! My Friend Beth is registered with the province of Ontario and is fully insured. We have First Aid and CPR certification and we undergo annual Vulnerability Sector and Criminal Record checks. We pride ourselves on being punctual at all times. Should we be unable to provide service due to any unforeseen event, we will exert all possible means to arrange for a substitute provider.
What are your hours?
Our work hours are typically from from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday thru Friday. In many cases, special requests can be accommodated.
Your list of services doesn't quite capture all of my needs. Does this mean you can't help me?
If you don’t see a service listed, ask us. We recommend that you contact us to schedule a free one-hour consultation and client needs assessment so that we can propose a tailored service package for you.
How can I request a service and how soon can services begin?
We are constantly with a client and therefore may not be able to respond to your calls or emails immediately. We do check our calls and emails between clients and we assure you that you will hear back from us either by phone or email within 24 hours.
Do you provide all the services yourself?
My Friend Beth provides every service itself; however, there are times when requests made are out of our area of expertise. In such cases, we will contact experts in the particular field of service you want. We maintain great relationships with reputable service providers such as snow removal, gardeners, house cleaners, handymen, massage therapists and many others. We only deal with providers who are insured and/or bonded, have undergone reference checks, and who share our values of family and integrity.
Do you service clients who live in a care facility?
Yes we do. Surprisingly, we find that although adult seniors who live in a care facility see fellow residents every day, they have the need to socialize with others outside the four walls of the building. They look forward to every visit, whether it be going for a short walk, a trip to the coffee shop or just simply having a conversation.
Which service plan is suitable for me?
The best way to find out is to call us, (705 441 2025) for a free no-obligation assessment/consult . Please feel free to have a look at Our Services page. Our Rate Plans are:
Acquaintance plan – $32.00/hour (pay-as-you-go)
Best Friend plan – $28.00/month for up to 8 hours a month. Bookings/scheduling are done at the start of the month.
Confidante plan – $25.00/month for more than 8 hours a month. Bookings/scheduling are done at the start of the month.
* A minimum of 2 hours is required per visit for the Best Friend and Confidante plans.
Can we set up a monthly or weekly service schedule?
We recommend setting up a monthly or weekly service schedule. This enables our clients to organize in advance the tasks that they want done. Also, this will help establish routine that will in turn help us to get to know each other more.
How far in advance do I need to book your services?
We require at least 48-hours of notice for clients who opt not to set up a regular service schedule in advance. We will definitely try to accommodate all requests as our calendar allows.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, personal cheques and electronic transfers. Unfortunately, we will charge a $25 fee for bounced cheques.
Please see our rate plans here. For our Acquaintance rate plan, we require payment after service is delivered. For Best Friend and Confidante rate plans, we recommend prepayment at the start of the month so that we can set up the service schedule for the entire month. This guarantees booking that will work for our client and us.
How do you work with family members of clients?
A Welcome package is provided and service reports are written for Best Friend and Confidante clients. Service reports are done towards the end of each service session and contain a summary or highlights of the visit which we ask the client to initial (as long as they are able). We also maintain an electronic file for our records.
Depending on the agreed frequency, we submit written reports by email to the client’s family, legal guardian or trustee. In some cases, we schedule a Skype session with them to discuss any concerns or changes in the client’s behaviour, physical or emotional demeanor.
